Forthcoming Meetings

September 6 2017

Philip Wilkinson - Exploring The Guildford Institute's Archives
Founded 125 years ago the Institute has a wealth of local history information. The scrapbooks are fascinating - full of local events and families in the Guildford Area. Philip will outline areas which might be useful to family historians.

October 4

Tony Painter - The History and Fascination of Place Names
How place names originated. Tony will include some local ones - if you are interested in a specific one let Iris know by 19 Sept.

November 1

Les Mitchinson - State Education
The different types of schools, their records and where to find them.

December 6

Ian Waller - In the Pantry
A history and origins of food and appliances. How everyday products came into being - some by accident or grown from a cottage industry.
